I believe the Frost Bolts give YOU +1 attack up to +10, and the first Frost Bolt gives HIM +1 defense too. Along with 1 Genesis Sword giving HIM +1 attack. He still kinda sucks, but he gave my Malekus another +.45 bringing him to +20 attack FINALLY :)

im not sure if im wrong or its always been like this but i just acquired my first frost bolt and it says that it gives a Bonus: +1 Defense to Medius so i would assume that they've changed it since that is contradicting what it says here, sorry if im wrong im just checking but if anyone has Medius please check if it changes his stats

Loot:
Doing more damage to the monster will provide you better chances to receive more loot as well as better loot.

this is what it says on the help tab on the monsters page, even thou you only did 300k and got a genesis sword you must have been lucky becuase do not forget luck is still a factor in the rewards you get but im saying the more damage you increases your chances of getting better loot doesn't mean u you necessarily will get better loot so some one could do a 5mil damage and someone could do 500k damage to genesis and the one that did 500k could get a genesis sword and the other might not, but damage still improves your chances of getting one but its still all down to luck in the end

I think people put to much stock into the damage/loot…. i just defeated a Genisis dealing a meer 300k and got a genisis sword

it kinda sucks that this is the general who can apparently destroy bahamut, ragnarok and genesis but only has 17 attack and defence :/ theyshould have put good lore on a good general (:

Are you near the top of the damage/defence dealers when the monster's defeated? Because that plays a significant role in determining what drops you get. Coming in 2nd with 3mil dmg/def will (pretty much always, never known this to not be true) get you better and more treasure than coming in 7th with the same. That's the only reason I can think of other than sheer bad luck

10 frostbolts to make him effective may be a lot… but you'll use them in fights anyway, cause it's a great spell! It's like 'reasonal' farming :)

I have been killing Genesis and Ragnaroks since Medius appear. Must have killed at least 15 of each… making sure the damage is between 1.5 to 2mil each.

Only to get a bunch of useless loot as well. Yeah… did I mention I managed to secure 2 frost bolts and 2 genesis swords.

BUT I am seriously considering how I would give up 3 frost bolts and 3 genesis swords for Medius when the time comes….

uhm… i've killed over 8 genesis doing well over 3million added defense + damage in well enough time and think i contributed to getting my friends to kill many criticals, and same with over 15 ragnaroks, one time even doing pretty much 10 million added damage + defense and still after all of those, have gotten a grand total of…

wait for it…

1 frost bolt, 1 genesis sword, and a WHOOOOOOOOOOLE lot of USEless loot… srsly… i have 2 of the good necklace… 2… i have about 7 from EACH of those of every other useless rare or epic loot, every one of the bad things, the spear, the blade, the sword or w/e, the USELESS 5/5 gloves, the raiments, etc…

i think he's a pretty decent general once u get 10 frost bolts and since u don't have to use favor points to get him i think hes a really good general so i don't see how anyone can say hes rubbish also he looks pretty cool as well

you're right but he is one of the hardest to obtain in the alchemy or which i should say the hardest ingredients to obtain depends on your luck and after that you need to farm 10 frost bolts to make him more effective :) but his attack rating is only 38.9(w/o set), while lyra has 39.2(w/o set). I'm just saying that lyra is easier to obtain because by that time you'll have 30favor points or more and you just need to level lyra to make her effective. Medius is hard work and is no where near lyras attack :)

but as you said he is the best free alchemy general, but i'm just adding that lyra is easier to obtain and more powerful then he is :D

he is the best "free" general in the game for dueling (when attacking. When defending, Celesta is the best.). Now that he is out, if you are going to badmouth a general…badmouth Cartigan!!

Just checked mine at LV 4 17/17. With 2 frost bolt left. I have tried to compare to Vanguish. Vanguish is still a better choose. I will have to keep on working to get 10 frost bolt and to see its power

Seems not working the frost bolt bonus. Now i have two, but my Medius (level three) is always a 16/17 (i've not genesis).
Who knows why?

i agree with you Maeldan the developers know what they're doing, everything in the game is useful in every way be it items, generals, etc. No general is useless and it depends on the player how they look at it, but for me the more the merrier. Remember this alchemy is optional so if you don't want to lose your epic equips and complain like there's no tomorrow, i suggest you avoid Medius and stop badmouthing in forums about how sucky generals are. Because many people do it here if you'd all noticed. :D

I agree with Emma, Medius will be a nice add for multiple reasons.

First, if you have 501+ army, you may need up to 101 generals (useful for invade, not duel though), and in that case any add, regardless to their abilities, is welcome.
Second, Ambrosia and Malekus both have a special ability (+0.45 either in defense or attack) which depends on the number of generals you own, so again, one more general is welcome. I own both, so happy to see a new general you can get for "free".
Third, if you're not spending FP to purchase generals from the oracle or chests, the only way to add generals to your army are those you can create through Alchemy (Chase, Cartigan, Keira, Leon Ironheart) which are, in this case, 100% free. A thoughtful creation which will help people who don't want to spend money enjoy the game a little more. Then, you'd be happy to get a general that can give you up to +10 in attack without using your Paypal :D

In any of these three cases, you won't care too much about the general stats and abilities, and working out figures is pointless. There's a whole series of general whose stats and abilities would be easily criticized, but discarding them to hastily on this sole basis is, according to me, a mistake.
Now, different gameplays, different opinions, this one is my opinion ;)

there is still same point - creating medius for invasions will bring u some decent bonus, but invading with 3g-swords/3frost bolts will give u better score after all

or am i wrong? i dont think so, Medius is another mistake in my Eye… much more happy with today Darius for free, nice ability…

Well, if you don't have a lot of FP to waste in treasure chests, making him isn't a bad idea to help with invasions. Besides, it doesn't take too long to get 3 genesis swords and 3 frost bolts - maybe 7 of each monster should do, assuming at least 1 mil dmg and in good time.

By the time you get the genesis achievement, you'll have more than 3 genesis swords… probably.

For the cost of exchanging 3 Genesis swords and 3 Frost Bolts I don't feel like he's worth it. The extra damage you'd inflict from the swords alone would outweigh the damage you would inflict with him - even with Malekus. Plus, at the rate that they keep making new generals there will eventually be more generals than you could use in a 501 person army anyway.
