so then the highest you can attain for these classes is level 3 for all of them? i have used rogue until it hit level 3…then it never went up, so i switched to being a cleric…almost to level 3 and i'm guessing its not going to go higher than that. does anyone know the limits to the class levels?

one question about class leveling, If the monster I'm fighting has filled the class ability bar (crippling, deflect, etc), If I use the sec attack would it counts me for leveling up my class even that it says stuff like Deflected [0]? or it only counts when there is a not filled bar?, also as Cleric you can heal any time but does that healing counts or it only counts when the "mana channels are aligned"

It seems to be a random glitch, I had the same problem. I had my mage almost to level 2 and then my experience went down to zero. My cleric I had almost to level 2 and the experience drained down to about halfway. Fortunately it stopped and I have almost all my mage experience back. Just keep fighting and hope for the best!

Defense skill always improves the secondary abilities (even crippling and deflection)
It is interesting that it is the attack side of equipment that acts as the modifier for cripple and deflect. However it is still the defense skill which improves the effect of secondary abilities.
that being said each monster has a different threshold where the effect becomes noticeable.

once you are above the minimal threshold generals which modify def will modify the effect of you secondary ability.
if your def is below the minimal threshold the general used does not make a difference.

Once you have raised your defense to the values below it is ill advised to use vanquish or ophelia and Xira is right out.
Halcyon is by far the best general to use with secondary abilities followed by Corventhius, Ambrosia, Serra Silverlight then Dante. (Draconius may have the potential to be 2nd best but the chances of getting 25 Griffin Riders within a reasonable number of chest rolls make him generally less useful.

Ancient Serpents require raising defense above 80 (probably 100 without dante)

Dark Legion and Earth and Ice Elementals require 200 def (180 using dante)
based on monster list placement I expect Fire elemental will require between 200-250 def

Red Plains require above 250 def (230 using dante)

Azriels require above 350 def (330 using dante)

Alpha Mephisto require above 350 def (330 using dante)

if you notice when you attack a list of items will display of what is better suited, when you attack equipment with higher attack ratings are mostly on the list, when you use energy attacks with the exception of deflect and cripple most likely the equips used will be the ones with the highest defense rating.

So put it simply the calculation is somewhat unknown as of the moment, but what we do know is that when attacking/deflecting/crippling the main factor used there is Attack, so most likely vanquish is good at crippling and deflecting. Dante is good for strengthen/heal/fortify/etc. It's still a mystery that when dante heals his attack reduction is ignored, so to say with vanquish when deflecting/crippling.

For me in layman terms, when you deflect and cripple the more attack you have the better and most likely defense have little or to no importance at this calculation. While when healing/strengthen/fortify your defense is the main stat and same goes for attack little or to no importance at all. :)

if you check the battle report after you cripple or deflect you'll see that the equips with the highest total attack rating is used when you deflected or crippled. Characters like vanquish, xira, ophelia, serene, or any high attack boosting generals are useful when doing this. For example you have a Zarevok meat cleaver and a celesta's devotion, if you heal or strengthen most likely the one used is celesta's devotion. But when you attack or cripple/deflect most likely the one that will be used is zarevok meat cleaver.

Certainly the amount of defense YOU have improves the amount of heal your Cleric or Warrior does, I dumped x5 skill points into my defense stats and as a Cleric in a Red Plains monster, I went back and Healed in the battle and noted a marked consistent improvement in heal amounts. In retrospection, I suppose one could equip Celesta (+7 player defense) and perform the same experiment. Should Vanquish (+20 player attack, -25 player defense) be equipped, I imagine an opposite of the better Heal results would happen.

For warriors, how are the amounts of healing and fortification you can give calculated?
For rogues, how is the amount that you can cripple calculated?
For mages, how is the amount that you can deflect calculated?
For clerics, how is the amount that you can heal calculated?

I'm looking to spend my skill points wisely, and I haven't figured out yet if all these are derived from your skill level (I assume they are: defense for health/fortification and attack for crippling and deflect(?) ). Anyone know?

The Warlock & Ranger are a new and wonderful addition to the Castle Age Monster Classes. So far they are only available for the Alpha Mephistopheles fight. These classes are a combination of the existing classes and make you a more versatile combatant in the fight.

The Warlock is a combination of the Mage & Cleric classes. It allows you the Mage’s Deflect ability, filling the “deflect” bar will prevent the monster from doing massive damage to the party. It also gives you the Cleric’s Heal ability, which heals a large amount of the parties Health/Strength bar.

The Ranger is a combination of the Warrior & Rogue classes. It allows you the Warrior’s Strengthen ability, each use of the ability increases the maximum party strength, and does a minor heal. It also gives you the Rogue’s Cripple ability, filling the “cripple” bar prevents the monster from healing itself.

Rangers & Warlocks at Level 2 provides +5 attack against next-gen monsters and at Level 3 it provides +10 attack against next-gen monsters.

I participated this week in two successful battles that involve classes: one as a Rogue for an Alpha Bahamut, one as a Cleric for Angel of Wrath.

The "level points" showed on the bar in the Monster Class tab right after each battle. My first of each of these battles, so it was about 1/5 of each respective bar. However, now they're gone.

Are these level points missing or deleted? Or do they only display when you're engaged with a battle?
