Hi guys, i just got a mythril fist(9/10) but y am i still using a soul eater(4/5) as my glove when duelling?
same thing with my shield, i am still using zenerean crest (4/7) when i have dragon scale(4/9) or aegis of earth(9/7). its a bit frustrating really, i thought ill have more chances of winning in duels once i get equipments with higher attack/defense…

I've been trying to bring both of them up and for some reason I am unable to move them beyond level 3. Is that thier limit right now or are do they just take much longer then the others???

Changes I've made until now:

Moved generals to their category

Moved soldiers to their category

Converted all the links that pointed to a CA Wiki page and used the external link format to the internal link format.

All links within the wiki should use this format: [Page Name].

[Page Name] is not necesarry. The links that get broken in the process of renaming should be fixed manually. There aren't that many for a page. If a large pack of pages need to be moved to a category for example, I will do it (I already have an application to do this).

Fixed image links that got broken while renaming pages.

Removed the comments module from most pages. If you see a page that still uses it, you can remove it. There is a discussion button if you wish to comment on a page.

Drastically improved the theme, first the usability and then tinkered with the colors to reflect the CA look.

Added several includes for the general pages and monster links.

I have quite a few applications I've wrote to make certain tasks doable. Most noteworthy are this:

Moving pages to a category - will need to add the fixing of the images that get moved in the process.

Fixing images that moved to another page - I should include this in the above application.

Fixing links from the external syntax to the internal syntax.

Application for finding broken links.

I should write an application for renaming a set of pages (not just moving to a category). I will think on it.

As you can see, quite a lot has changed in the past month, maybe two. I hope for an active community in the time to come.
It can be anything really:

ideas on how a certain type of page should look

ideas for includes

ideas for restructuring the wiki

helping with adding missing content

helping with improving the existing content

I see common/uncommon, rare, epic, legendary. What is the order?

Common would be the lowest, followed by uncommon, but I get confused after that. It seems like sometimes rare has better drops and sometimes epic has better drops. Maybe it's just my imagination.

I am against using live templates for the hero pages, as I am against having 2 categories for the same thing (generals and heroes). Includes are more suited for the content of this pages. Mix in a classic template and you've got yourself the perfect solution. One won't have to do anything else than change the information that is not standard.

Also, I'll be writing an include for the stats table and one more for a general InfoBox. After I have 3 pages with different content for generals I'll create a template for them.

Hi,

I like fighting monsters a lot in CA.
I also like getting the best treasures from them.
I wonder, is there an absolute amount of loot? So that if you slay it alone, you get it all and if you Call to Arms you have to share?
It appears not. It says something like 'if you do more damage, then you have a greater chance of getting the good items'.
So does that mean that there is more total loot if more people join in? It appears so.
But you can only be in 3 battles at the same time i think
And if you don't do much damage, then, well.. it's not worth while.
So what's best?

Some tips to increase wiki maintainability:

Links should be in the form of [Page Name] or [Page Label], this is how Wikidot prefers them and most of the tools regarding back-links and renaming only pay attention to these links. Links of the form Page Name are not picked up in renaming.

Images ought to use the form of image page-name/image-name.jpg, but that is mostly because it's shorter. I'm not yet sure if it would pick up on a name change. Also, I generally expect to find images on their item's page. There are many examples such as the image for a sword is on its associated general page, or on the gift page that is how it gets created, and so on.

There's probably other conventions we use that should be written down, but I'd also like it to be a discussion rather than me handing down the rules :)

There is no need to load the comments every time the page loads.

Move pages to where they belong and rename them. All monsters go in the monster: category and so on. Also, the page can be renamed using the full name of the monster/item/whatever.

Pages need changes to their content. The plan is to sync the information with what can be found on http://castleage.wikia.com

Use includes for stuff used in more than one page.

Use internal links when possible

[Page Name]

This is all I can think of right now.

Discussion of some new research into how monsters' HP is determined

 <wikidot:authorName>mordel</wikidot:authorName> <wikidot:authorUserId>138020</wikidot:authorUserId>

So, North updated the older monsters, calling them Stamina-based Monsters and changing their HP values to stamina counts. I ought to have messaged him first to find out what's up, but instead I just reverted it. Upon hearing an extended explanation of the edit, I can see where it's going but I want to open up the dialog to develop better wording and consistent site information. Here's what North says a SBM is:

[CA] doesn't count how much damage you do against Stamina based monsters, like Keira, only how much stamina you spend.

Power Attacks count as 6 Stamina spent. This means that doing one Power Attack (5 Stamina) counts as 6 Regular Attacks (1 Stamina).

Critical hits count as 3 Attacks. If you get a Critical hit on a Regular Attack (1 Stamina) it counts as 3 Stamina spent. If you get a critical on a Power Attack it counts as 18 Stamina spent (3 x 6 Stamina; read the above statement).

So. Do y'all agree? Is there more to this, like in how CA keeps track of monster ratings? Why is it different from monster achievements whose minimums are measured in damage done? Does it make sense to display information that differs from what is one the actual game pages, or can we provide this stamina count in addition to the HP reading? How can we serve low- and high-level players at the same time? Go check out the pages and bring the discussion back here. The monsters in question are:

Gildamesh, Ork King

Colossus of Terra

Emerald Dragon

Frost Dragon

Gold Dragon

Ancient Red Dragon

Keira, the Dread Knight

You will not be awarded Arielle until you collect bonuses at the end of the final 25 rounds, even if you have already rescued the 10 princesses. After you have all the 15 Maiden Souls, Head to the top… [5 energy]

12. Explore Room [5 energy]

*Keep Exploring till you get the "Special Event". The Dark Maiden will appear here. PAY ATTENTION HERE~~!

1: Choose Option 1: Shatter a Maiden Soul in her presence! [5 energy] to Capture The Maiden~! (capture 15 Maidens. NOT 10 ok… :D) You will need to repeat this many times to complete 15 captures. Repeat the quest from begining if needed but proceed directly all the way to top without stopping in the middle, to complete all 15 captured Maidens.

2. Choose Option 3: Rush the Enemy with overwhelming force (Requires 70 Army Members)! [4 STAMINA] * This gives you a confirmed Golem Bane EVERYTIME.

*Note on golems: complimenting her beauty does give a golem.. but other times she embraces you and leaves gold… you can also get the golem by attacking the dark maiden, and the shadow maiden often gets in your way redoing the quest… get 7 or 8 golems then go for the dark maiden; when the shadow maiden intervenes restarting the quest, compliment her and get the last few golems, saves a few hundred energy; for those collectors while attacking the shadow maiden does get her, you get her anyway from collecting the dark maiden later on so no need to waste the energy/stam at that point

13. Collect your reward.

*OK…now that you have your Golem Banes…

15. Go back to: 3. Land of Water: Caves

http://apps.facebook.com/castle_age/qengage.php?crt=tr&adv_id=5

16. Continue with Explore Vault! [5 energy]

*Repeat that till you get the "Special Event" where the Champion appears. This time.. choose Option 1: Use a Golem Bane to control the Golems and capture the Champion! (need 10 Champions) You will need to repeat that multiple times or restart the whole quest. If restart, choose the options that lead to the vault and continue collecting Champions.

17. Once you have 10, go collect your rewards!!!!

There you go… NOW you have Arielle AND her FULLSET Enjoy!!!

*NOTE: The quest items all drops from Special Events, so you need to keep doing the quest till that damnably random EVENT pops out.

Credits: Big thanks to Joyce Chung & associates for compiling this time saving, easy to understand walk through

Hello all,

I'm not the "owner" of this site and only recently became an admin, but I've spent a good amount of time reading forum posts and working in the wiki. Anyways, one of the privileges of administration is the ability to edit and delete forum posts. In the past two weeks I've made a point to do something about certain things, and instead of just whacking away at things I decided that policy should be up front and open for discussion. This is a collaborative effort, after all. Below are the themes that have been guiding my actions, and I'd like feedback on them. They're not official policies, but I'd like to move towards this site having a better structure to maintain its health and usefulness.

No Hazing or Abuse: friendly ribbing is great, especially in relation to Arena. Chiding people on their grammar or talking about how "gorgeous" the images are isn't very useful, and creates an environment where some people don't feel comfortable participating. I've deleted posts that only comment on a general's "hot ass" or say "that's not a word". Some posts were edited to remove objectionable content from otherwise unobjectionable posts. Admins shouldn't be moral police, but we're here to keep things clean.

No content from Wikia: I can't rule out links to the official CastleAge Forums, and that's a great resource from people who are just putting things out there. Wikia is different, as they are essentially the same service. Some people like Wikia's layout better, some like ours. Some things can't be found here yet, and that's where the problem lies. I don't like links to Wikia, but in many cases they're to content that we don't plan on providing… so I'm going to back off on those, or put together a summary page of things you can't find here. However, there can be no blatant copying of their content, especially layouts. If you're keen on providing some information that Wikia has, either link to it or at least take the time to rewrite it in our format. I will just remove the information if it's blatant.

No Call to Arms: Yeah, this is a site for CastleAge and often the help you need isn't information, it's clicks. There's a place for that, on the official forum. Go use that, get more clicks anyways.

I have some ideas for members/admins who are editing pages, but that's for later if we ever bother to organize. So, once again, this is just my opinion and the things that bug me. While I have power to do what I want, I'd rather hear from others what they want out of the forums and we can start steering things in the direction that's best for everyone. So let's start the conversation.

As some of you know, some random loot isn't all that random, they only show up for certain monsters or types. (Yes I am aware that some can be obtained in other ways) So if anyone willing to jot down their random loot and we can put it together; this is mainly for the spartan warriors and the hard to get REALLY random loot or something. I will update this every time I see something new in a post. Thanks for all your help.

Items

Random Places

Angelic Plate

Deathrune Raid, Genesis, Dark Legion

Battle Spear

Dragon, sea serpent

Flame Bow

Dragon, bosses

Earth Shards

Ragnarok, Skaar

Energy Bolt

Dragon, sea serpent

Energy Potion

Dragon

Favor Points

Dragon, Cronus, Dark Legion, Skaar, sea serpents (presumably all monsters?)

Ironhart's Might

Dark Legion, Deathrune Raid, Genesis

Lightning Bolt

Dragon

Orc War Axe

Deathrune Raid, Dark Legion, Genesis

Rusty Gloves

Ragnarok, Skaar

Rusty Armor

Ragnarok, Skaar

Spartan Helm

Sea Serpents

Spartan Spear

Sea Serpents

Spartan Shield

Sea Serpents, Dark Legion, Genesis

Stamina Potion

Soldiers

Random Places

Death Knight

Dragon

Fire Elemental

Sea Serpents

Lich

Dragon

Mercenary

Dragon

Shadow

Dragon

Spartan Warrior

Sea serpents, Deathrune Raids, Dark Legion, Genesis

Vampire

Dragon

Atlantean Archer

Sea Serpents

Dwarven Battlemaster

Sylvanas, lotus, cronus

Not sure if different sea serpents or dragons matter.
So it appears that they made some changes tonight with the Hydra fight. They have introduced a new Call to Arms Siege Weapon called last stand and it takes 500 people to activate. Thats a lot of link clicking. Posting on the Castle Age Hydra Group made things easier, until I got banned for "spamming" links on the groups wall. Currently at 300 links down with 200 to go! I'll post damage done as soon as I find out.

Also… I noticed they must have lowered Hydras defense. I was hitting roughly 5,300 before but now I am hitting her for about 6800. Nice change! This should help speed up our kill nicely!
