This is the discussion related to the wiki page Atlantean Map Piece (1 of 4).
Each serpent gives a specific piece of the map.
I completed first battle last night - victory - (burned lots of favor points to complete in one night) and NO map piece. Is this a screw up - or do I hae to do this again? If I should have gotten map piece (and from everything I've found to read aobut this, once I completed battle, that map piece should have dropped) how do I get/whom do I contact (and how) to get map piece?? I got part one of Atlantean shield, and of course some other loot. I'd really like to know ASAP so i know whether i shoudl plan to repeat this or can go on with next battle. (I summoned, and did this battle alone…this wasn't a team effort.)
all drops are a % chance to drop, it might be determined by the % of dmg you do, but i prefer to think its like most drop rates in games. You have a chance of getting any item but there is no guarantee.
I know there's drops that are only for the Summoner in other fights, is it possible the map piece is the same way?
no, it is not a summoner only drop. it just depends on luck really. some people get it the first try other are fighting it 5x, plus before they get it. you can look for a few that are being battled by a bunch of people and fight them all just a bit instead of taking down one at a time.
It's actually better to take it down with 4 or more others. There is no merit in overhitting on a monster unless time is a problem. Splitting 4mil damage over 2 or 3 serpents is better than trying to solo one. 500k-1mil should be good if you are going for more chances to get a drop
ive just got my first peice today from the Emerald Sea Serpent i was top damage dealer with 691,444 dmg / 208,753 def i received the bottom left peice.

each serpent gives a different map piece. and no it is not a summoner only item… you need to do around 500K damage to get the map piece.

you can get map pieces by getting 500 points in def or attack or both combined… like 200atk/300def… that should be enough for your map piece.each of the different colored Sea serpents has a different piece of the map… and the Deathrune castle raid/siege has 2 map pieces but they are rare.

I haven't failed yet to get a map piece as long as I kill the serpent unaided. So I think that's a good rule of thumb—-beat the serpent by yourself.
But how do you get to summon the serpents? I am a Level 300 player and have only ever managed to use Alchemy to summon the Ancient Sea Serpent and Cronus. What do I need to do to get the Emerald, Amathyst and Sapphire Eggs???
These days you can go to your Monsters page, and open up one of the lower-level frames (like Levels 21-40 for the Emerald Sea Serpent), click on summon, and if you have the appropriate serpent egg (in this case Emerald Egg) you can then click to summon that particular serpent. Go forth and slay many serpents!
I have taken that damn red sea serpent out at least 10x, 5 of which were me solo and I STILL have not received the last fuc map piece. Does it still exist?
